The significance of the U.S. flame retardant protective clothing standard
The U.S. flame-retardant protective clothing standards mainly include the National Fire Protection Association’s NFPA 2113 industrial flash fire protection flame-retardant clothing selection, use and maintenance standards; NFPA 2112 industrial flash fire protection flame-retardant clothing standards; NFPA 70E industrial power safety standards and a series of (ASTM) American standard test standards, such as ASTM F1930 method for evaluating the protective performance of flame-retardant clothing with dummy bombardment, ASTM F1959 fabric arc protection performance test method and ASTM F955 fabric protective performance test method for molten metal.
Among them, NFPA 2112 and NFPA 70E are cited by the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration as legal requirements for personal protective clothing for corresponding occupations. Many workers in the petroleum, chemical, and electric power occupations must be equipped with flame-retardant protective clothing in accordance with NFPA2112 or NFPA70E.Regardless of whether it is cited by regulations or not, the U.S. flame-retardant protective clothing standard has been widely adopted by the U.S. industry and has become a recognized standard for flame-retardant protective clothing products. Through many years of actual use and updates, the U.S. flame-retardant protective clothing standard is recognized by industrial users as practical, scientific and reasonable standards to ensure basic protective performance. Many major multinational companies and groups have adopted the U.S. flame-retardant protective clothing standard as the basic requirement of the company’s personal protective clothing global platform.
