The U.S. flame-retardant protective clothing standards mainly include the National Fire Protection Association’s NFPA 2113 industrial flash fire protection flame-retardant clothing selection, use and maintenance standards; NFPA 2112 industrial flash fire protection flame-retardant clothing standards; NFPA 70E industrial power safety standards and a series of (ASTM) American standard test standards, such as ASTM F1930 method for evaluating the protective performance of flame-retardant clothing with dummy bombardment, ASTM F1959 fabric arc protection performance test method and ASTM F955 fabric protective performance test method for molten metal.

Among them, NFPA 2112 and NFPA 70E are cited by the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration as legal requirements for personal protective clothing for corresponding occupations.
