1. Basic Specification

Gram weight: 250 g/m², standard medium-weight FR fabric widely used for industrial safety garments (jackets, trousers, bib overalls). Common raw blends: CVC / TC / Cotton-Nylon / Modacrylic-cotton based on customer requirement, mainly woven in twill or plain weave.

2. Two mainstream FR technical routes

Route 1: Durable after-finish (Cotton/CVC/TC series, Proban THPC cross-link treatment)

Flame retardant chemicals form stable chemical bonds inside cotton fibers. LOI ≥28, maintains qualified FR performance after ≥50 industrial washes. When exposed to open flame, cotton quickly carbonizes into dense insulating char layer to block oxygen and heat, enabling self-extinguishment after leaving fire source. Polyester component boosts tensile strength, anti-wrinkle and dimensional stability.

Route 2: Inherent FR fiber blend (Modacrylic / Aramid blend)

FR property comes from fiber molecular structure without extra chemical coating. FR function is permanent and never fades with repeated laundering; no molten dripping under high temperature.

3. Optional antistatic function

Grid conductive filaments are inserted into warp and weft for antistatic purpose. Surface resistance controlled between 10⁶~10¹¹ Ω, compliant with EN 1149-5 to eliminate static spark risk for petrochemical, combustible dust workshops.

4. Compliance Standards

  • EN ISO 11611: protection against welding sparks and splashes
  • EN ISO 11612: protection against radiant heat, flash fire and hot splashes
  • EN 1149-5: mandatory antistatic standard for hazardous explosive sites

5. Product Advantages

  1. 250gsm medium weight balances wearing comfort and mechanical protection: lighter than 300–320gsm heavy canvas, less stuffy for long-hour daily work; thicker than lightweight fabrics to block welding spatter and hot debris effectively.
  2. Cost-effective for mass procurement, the most popular gram specification for regular FR industrial uniforms.
  3. Good cutting and tailoring performance, compatible with reflective tape printing for high-visibility safety clothing.

6. Disadvantages

Not suitable for heavy-duty close-range smelting or ultra-high temperature flame environment (needs ≥300gsm heavy FR fabric). After-finish FR types lose partial flame resistance after excessive repeated washing over 80–100 cycles.
